I need some advice on how to wire my PS3 to my home theatre system

Here is what I have right now:

Hi-Def TV
PS3
WIRELESS home theatre system
TIVI HD Box
The wireless system is NOT HDMI but the tv and PS3 are
The PS3 (video) is connected directly to the TV via HDMI
The PS3 audio is being routed through the home theatre system via standard red/green/yellow connections
Only the TIVO box has an optical audio output.
No other piece of equipment has any optical IN connection

When I listen to Blu Ray discs via my home theatre system it is not as solid, loud and vibrant as when I run my standard DVD discs thru the system.

I played with the DVD set-up to try and get the best sound out of this current connection

So far, using AUX plus 5.1 surround produces the best sound. But I know I am missing out on audio quality 'cause it sounds MUCH, MUCH louder and cleaner when viewing standard DVDs directly thru the home theatre system and NOT thru the PS3 bx

Any help, suggestion, ideas, etc. are GREATLY appreciated

I am leaning towards buying a new receiver. I like the SONY STR-DG810 6.1 Channel Receiver Amazon has it on sale for $260 (fee shipping); it usually sells for $399

One last thing, then I swear I won't bug you anymore. I checked ALL of the connections, outputs, inputs, etc. on ALL of my components and here is what I came up with:



PS3
Digital Out
HDMI
AV Multi Out



TIVO HD
Digital audio
S Video R/B/G (component out)
AV - white/yellow/red
HDMI



Hi-def TV
Audio In r/g/b (square shaped input)
Audio In red/white
HDMI
S-Video
Component Video red/yellow/white



Receiver
Digital In
S Video
Component In/Out - red/blue/green
Video Out - yellow



Now, you know how the system is currently set-up from my original post and that the sound through the PS3 is not as crisp, loud and vibrant as when viewing a standard DVD through the recevier. Since I have an optical in on the recevier and an digital out on the PS3; if I cannot the two with an optical line will I get true Blu Ray sound or better sound than I am getting now?
